Follow-Up Messages for Unopened PPV: What to Send and When
A fan who did not unlock a paid message is not always a lost sale. Often they were busy, missed the notification or were unsure. A good follow-up removes that doubt.
When to follow up
- First reminder: a few hours later or the next day, when the fan is likely online again.
- Second reminder: only if the offer is time-limited or genuinely special.
- Then stop. Move on to a free conversation starter instead.
Tone: curious, not demanding
A follow-up should feel like a nudge from a person, not a payment reminder. Ask about their opinion, add a small new detail or a playful line.
- “Did you see what I sent you earlier?”
- “I made it with you in mind. Let me know if you liked it.”
- “It's still waiting for you, just like me.”
Add value instead of pressure
If a fan ignored the first message, repeating it word for word rarely helps. Try a different angle: a second preview, a short voice note, or a sentence about why this set is special. Some creators lower the price for a short window – use it sparingly, or fans learn to wait for discounts.
What not to do
- Guilt-tripping or fake urgency that is not true.
- Following up more than twice on the same offer.
- Sending follow-ups to fans who already unlocked – check your lists.
